Choose a Healthy Restaurant for Breakfast

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” At some point in our lives, most of us have heard that saying. Like many sayings, there is a factual basis behind it. Unfortunately, many of us choose high-sugar or empty carbs to start our day. Food & Thought 2 provides an alternative: a healthy restaurant with an amazing organic breakfast menu.

Is breakfast important?

In a word, yes. Breakfast has been linked to lower levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, better memory and concentration and lower risks for obesity, heart disease and diabetes. When you wake up, the blood sugar your body needs to make your brain and muscles work is low. A good breakfast changes that state.

Aside from energy, it helps us to make better choices. When our blood sugar is low, our tendency is to snack on high-fat, high-sugar foods. The effects can be even more pronounced in children. Early habits of snacking on the wrong foods can lead to higher body mass indexes (BMI). They can become less focused and more irritable. Eating a good breakfast has even been linked to higher test scores.

Classic favorites

Choosing a healthy restaurant doesn’t mean you have to give up on some classic favorites. Our breakfast menu still has choices like biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs and bacon. But you can be sure that the ingredients are 100% organic and come from the best suppliers we can find. In some cases, we offer healthier alternatives. For example, the biscuits and gravy have a turkey sausage gravy and you can change out sides like a hash brown casserole with grits or vegetable quinoa. Pancakes can be made from buckwheat or pumpkin (a seasonal dish). You can opt to try chicken or turkey sausage instead of pork. Regardless of the choice, it will be organic and delicious.

New favorites

Does banana bread French toast sound like something you might want to try? Vanilla egg battered banana bread, topped with peanut butter mousse, applewood bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup. How about avocado toast? Our Power Scramble is 3 range-free egg whites scrambled with turkey sausage, spinach and avocado. Couple it with an included side and you will start the day well fueled whether you are going to work or to hit the golf course.

Lighter fare

Some prefer a lighter breakfast and Food & Thought 2 has that covered. Perhaps the Yogurt Bowl made of vegan coconut yogurt, seasonal fruit, quinoa granola that is made in-house, hemp and chia seeds and peanut butter. It’s all topped with blue agave syrup. Or choose fruit bowls, sliced tomatoes or some of the sides that pique your interest that day.

Choosing a healthy restaurant for breakfast doesn’t have to be boring or bland. Whether it is old favorites or new favorites waiting to be discovered, Food & Thought 2 is sure to have something that will get your day started right.
